Picture
Savage Gulf is part of South Cumberland State Park in Tennessee. As the first painting to be started in this series, I printed out a still from my video, Swallow Your Dreams, and decided to use that for this painting’s direction. This was also the first time I had worked with oil paint. It was a while until I realized that the reason I was having difficulty being satisfied with the progress, was because the still itself did not contain much contrast at all. There also was not a lot of information in the color information of the printed still, so with many reasons, I chucked the still to only focus on the painting. I finished it, being mindful to let some areas of test/destruction still show through.
