Chance with disorganization. This film was made during the one term I tried out a film school. A class asked us each to just make a short film to evaluate. I had some super 8 footage, from a couple years previous, that still needed to be made into something. There is a very good example of something in this film that I have noticed similar versions of in earlier works of mine. There is a "technical error" which carries with it an aesthetic that today I wouldn't be able to reproduce, now having a different understanding of it - which is the blown-out decibels of audio. The lack of technical information I had, encouraged me to overlook these areas, which result in those elements feeling like belonging imperfections that are naturally part of making something what it is. But to now have a better understanding of how these things technically work, if I try to recreate them, it will feel like and result in being a gimmick. It was a very discouraging, lonely and depressing time at that moment in film school. I think that comes across strongly to me in the harsh, high decibels blown-out.
